In the fall of 2013, my husband and I decided that we wanted to try for a baby. This would require the reversal of my tubal ligation that was performed in 2003. We had no idea where to even begin. I spent many lunch hours googling information about this procedure and doctors who perform this type of work. I also made many phone calls inquiring about pricing for this type of procedure. What I soon learned was that one of the most experienced doctors was located here in Louisville, Kentucky which is only about 40 minutes from our home. Not only was he one of the most experienced, but he offered tubal ligation reversal at a cheaper rate than any of his competitors. I quickly learned that tons of useful information could be found on Dr. Levin's website. This included frequently asked questions, video training about how to prepare for the procedure, what to expect during the procedure and aftercare information. In addition, I was able to review numerous testimonials from clients who had successful reversals. Due to all of the training and information being available online, I never once had to visit the office or meet with the staff in person prior to the surgery. While some people may not care for this idea, we loved it! It saved my husband and I from having to take off from work. Another benefit that I quickly learned about was that there were various payment options offered by Dr. Levin's office. As my husband and I wanted to schedule the reversal fairly quickly, we went with the payment option of placing half down to schedule the surgery and paying the other half right before the surgery. We were able to select the date that we wanted for he surgery simply by working with the staff. This was beneficial to us because I was able to schedule vacation time from my job around this appointment. Once the surgery was scheduled, Dr. Levin's office mailed me out a brochure with very helpful information. I read through everything thoroughly and there were no questions left unanswered, not one single thing that we were unclear about.

Our surgery was scheduled for 2/17/2014. Our accomodations for the hotel room were ready the night before our surgery. There were no issues upon check in. The staff at the hotel was extremely courteous and new exactly what was needed for patients of Dr. Levin. They prepared our transportation to the hospital for the following morning as well. The hotel was extremely clean as well. On Monday 2/17/14, our transportation was waiting at the door of the hotel on time. They transported my husband and I just a few short blocks away to the hospital and we were dropped off right at the front door. We signed in for the outpatient surgery and were called back immediately. Prior to the surgery, Dr. Levin and his assistance came in to my pre-op room and went over everything with me. He made sure that I understood everything that would be occurring and what would happen after my surgery. He also advised us that he would be visiting our hotel room the following morning to follow up with my care. This was fantastic because it meant that we didn't have to arrange transportation to a doctor's office or sit in some stuffy waiting room. An in room visit was extremely efficient. I learned that my tubes had been a bit shorter than anticipated, so I would be unable to resume sexual intercourse for 6 weeks. I was able to go back to work just one week after my surgery.

My husband and I resumed with trying to have a baby 6 weeks after my reversal surgery (aroud the beginning of April 2014). I wanted a baby so bad. I figured that I would get pregnant rather quickly because I had been extremely fertile prior to my tubal ligation in 2003.

I was so desperate to have a baby that I started taking pregnancy tests every week or so, seeing the same negative results each time. We also started tracking ovulation. It was exhausting, watching everything so closely. The moment that we stopped tracking everything to a T is the moment that it happened for us! On 06/22/2014, I took a Dollar Tree pregnancy test in the privacy of our home. Again, I saw one line, indicating yet another negative pregnancy test. After telling my husband that it was negative again, we went on about our day. A couple of hours later as I was completing housework, I went to empty the bathroom garbage and noticed that a very faint second line had appeared on the discarded pregnancy test! Could this be real?!?! I immediately grabbed the test from the trash can, ran down the stairs, out the back door and yelled for my husband. He came up from the pool to see what I needed and I showed him the test. He looked at me like I was crazy, saying he couldn't see a second line. I held it up closer to his face, telling him to look closely. He confirmed that he also saw the faint line, but he was doubtful that it was a true positive pregnancy test. I immediately went back upstairs and took another test. Same results.....an extremely faint second line! My husband was still not convinced. After going to the Dollar Tree and buying three more cheap tests, all of which produced the same results, my husband told me he didn't trust the test. After I got off work the following day, I drove to the store and bought a digital pregnancy test. It was worth the $11 to prove to my husband that I wasn't crazy. With my heart beating a million miles per minute, I went into the bathroom and peed on the digital stick, waiting for what seemed like eternity! Then, before my eyes we had a reading that said "1-2 weeks"!!! Yes, we were pregnant!!

I contacted Dr. Levin's office and my obstetrician. Dr. Levin sent me for bloodwork immediately upon contacting his office. In the meantime, my obstetrician scheduled an appointment for me as well.

Just a day later, I received the bloodwork results and they were devastating to me. My counts were not high enough to confirm a viable pregnancy. We continued testing every few days as my counts should have been doubling. Each day I was filled with worry and doubt. However, after a week or so, my counts started doubling as they were supposed to. Everything started moving along perfectly!

I am happy to report that on 02/17/2015, exactly one year to the day I had the tubal ligation reversal, we delivered a happy, healthy 10 pound 3 ounce baby boy!! Every concern, every doubt, every fear had washed away! Dr. Levin had performed my surgery perfectly and our little miracle baby was born bringing our little happy mix to a family of six!
