My name is Rikki Ritterbach. In 2005 I was 25 years old, I had already had 3 children, and I was in a relationship that was rocky at best. So, after baby #3 came I bit the bullet and had my tubes tied. My ex left 4 days later. At that point, I committed myself to being the best mom that I could be to my children (6, 3 and 1 week old).

One year and two weeks later I met the man of my dreams! Six months later we married and moved from Arizona to Texas. So there we were, a very happy not so little family- My husband and I, his daughter and my 3 children. Our family blended together seamlessly, no "his" or "mine", just "ours". After we had been married for about a year, I started to feel like something was missing. It was not just that I wanted another baby or even just that I wanted to have children with my husband but also that I was physically incomplete somehow. My body was designed to nurture and grow life and now, because of a decision that I made, that would NEVER happen again. NEVER!

It took me a little while, but I finally talked to my husband about trying to undo my ligation. Surprisingly, he said research it and let's do it. My sister was helping me research all of the ins and outs of ligation reversal. She had called the fertility doctor in Arizona that she had seen while she had been trying to conceive and asked if there was anyone that he would recommend. He said "Dr. Richard Levin in Louisville. Hands down." then gave my sister Dr. Levin's contact info. I was so excited! My husband was making good money so we would have the money saved pretty quickly, our kids were all on board and all of our friends were supportive of our decision. That was 2007.

Then the bottom fell out of the housing market and fuel prices soared. Every time that we would get some money saved some disaster or emergency would take up what we had saved to have the reversal done. As time went on, I began to know that having my ligation reversed was never going to happen. Over the next few years, I asked the Lord to make my heart ok with the fact that we were never going to be able to have more children. Yet, I still asked Him for more children.

In October of 2011, with our oldest child starting college in Texas, we sold everything that we had and moved to Montana. For the next two and a half years, I prayed and prayed that God would make me ok with not being able to have more children. My ever loving and ever faithful husband, however, continued to urge me to have faith that God would provide a way. And in August of 2013, He did. My husband got a new job (his dream job really) and he was earning a livable wage for the first time in almost 6 years!

Before the end of 2013, we were saving toward a reversal again. And in the first part of 2014, I scheduled my surgery with Dr. Levin and bought our plane tickets! Our church and our friends prayed with and for us. Friends volunteered to keep our children for the days that we would be gone. I had my tubal ligation reversed on May 5, 2014.

I have to confess that I was very scared. Would the surgery go alright? Would we be able to conceive? If so, how long would it take? All of these questions and more were running through my head. My ever loving husband continued to try to reassure me. I met Dr. Levin, he was kind and caring, he answered all of our questions and we felt like we were his number one priority. After the surgery, he talked with my husband and gave him all of the instructions for my post-op care. The next day he came to our hotel room for my post-op check up. Again, he answered all of our questions and was kind and caring.

In August 2014, just 2 months after we were able to start trying, praise the Lord, I found out I was pregnant! We were so excited! Dr. Levin ordered all of my initial labs and ultrasound. Everything looked great so he released me to my O.B. On April 25, 2015, Miss Madison Ann was born at a healthy 8lbs. 4 oz. Her brothers and her sisters absolutely adore her. She is a great joy to our family! We will never be able to thank Dr. Levin enough for using his gifts to help our family!

Forever Grateful,
Jon & Rikki Ritterbach
