Rosemary and Adam, thanks for sharing your story with us!
Case Facts: On November 16, 2000, Rosemary had a tubal ligation performed and her operative note and pathology report were no longer available. Rosemary took a leep of faith and had Dr. Richard Levin perform a bilateral microsurgical tubal ligation reversal. Rosemary ended up with her right tube measureing 5.0 cm and her left was 4.5 cm. She had a lot of scar tissue and she was sterilized only 0.5 cm away from the uterus where the tube is very tiny in diameter.
Please enjoy Rosemary and Adam's story in Rosemary's own words . . .
My name is Rosemary and my husband’s name is Adam. We would like to share our journey with you. In June 2000, I went through a difficult divorce from my first husband. I left that marriage with three children, all boys whom I love more than my own life. So sure I was completely done with men forever, I settled into my new life as a single parent. In October 2000, I unexpectedly met the man that would change my life forever. I met Adam; the man that I believe was created just for me, even if I didn't know it at the time. Knowing what I was going through raising my three boys alone, I didn't want to add any more children to my already bad situation or be left with even more kids to care for by myself. In November 2000, I opted to have a tubal ligation. At the time, I felt it was the best option for me. So that is what I did.
Adam is seven years younger than I am and he had never been married nor had he fathered any children of his own. When we met, Adam was a young 21 year old college student. I was a 27 year old (about to turn 28) mother of 3 working to provide for them. We dated for a while and then eventually moved in together. The topic of marriage had come up but it was nothing we had discussed seriously until 9 years later when we actually took the plunge and became husband and wife. We would make small talk about having babies but we were both very aware of my tubal ligation. We had discussed a reversal but weren't really sure if it was even possible at my age and because it had already been so long since I had had the tubal ligation.
Knowing Adam was very interested in having children of his own and knowing that my age was working against me, In 2010 I began researching tubal ligation reversal and the doctors that perform them. For about two years I searched and read any and all information I could find. I looked up doctors, their websites, their educational background, the procedures they used to reconnect tubes, success rates, reviews from patients, I looked on the medical board websites for information, you name it, and I searched it. One doctor that really stuck out among the rest was Dr. Richard M. Levin. Everything about him was impressive. My gut instinct felt really good about him. The reviews were excellent and his work was guaranteed. I loved the fact that he would follow his patients through the first trimester of their pregnancies. He would stick with you until you became pregnant and help with infertility if it was needed. He wouldn't just take your money, cut you open and sew you up just to never hear from him again. In the end, we chose him. We felt it was a one-time shot and we didn't just want any doctor to go in and try to fix my tubes. We wanted one that had the experience and success that Dr. Levin has had.
In September 2012, Adam and I began the process of our journey with Tubal Ligation Reversal with Dr. Levin. It was a very simple and quick process as we did the fast track program to get our surgery scheduled quickly. I was unable to obtain my tubal ligation records from the doctor that performed that surgery as they had moved offices and records were not yet computerized at that time. Dr. Levin made no promises but he did assure me that if it could be done, he would do it. Dr. Levin kept in contact with me from the very beginning to even now. His staff is wonderful but it is nice to be able to talk to the actual doctor that is caring for you during such a delicate procedure.
On November 12, 2012, my tubal ligation reversal was completed. Dr. Levin was able to reattach both of my fallopian tubes. We were so happy. The day after my surgery, both he and his nurse came to my hotel room to check on me and gave me instructions on how to care for my incision and when we could actually start trying for baby.
Dr. Levin had asked that I wait 6 weeks for healing before we started trying to conceive. We actually had to wait longer but only because of my medical history. I was diabetic, hypertensive, over weight and my OB would not support me getting pregnant unless my diabetes was controlled. I worked really hard and by April 2013, my diabetes was very controlled and my OB gave me the go ahead to get pregnant.
Thanks to God's blessing, I became pregnant in May 2013 at the age of 40. We were completely shocked at how fast it happened. I immediately let Dr. Levin know and he oversaw my pregnancy through the first trimester. He ordered labs and sonograms. He wanted to make sure I did not have a tubal pregnancy and that my pregnancy was viable. After my 12th week, he then released me to my OB. On January 15, 2014, our beautiful miracle baby, Arya Grace, was born. She was born 5 weeks early due to signs of preeclampsia. She weighed 4 pounds 13 ounces but she is perfect.
Fast forward to today, January 2015. Arya is now a very healthy, vibrant and beautiful one year old. We are so in love with her and don’t know what we ever did to deserve such a blessing. Additionally, Arya is about to become a big sister as I am now pregnant with our second child. Talk about a surprise! We started practicing for baby #2 in September 2014 as we were going to officially start trying in January 2015. Well, I guess we didn't need the practice. Baby #2 is due June 26, 2015. We could not be any happier than we are right now. Baby #2 is a girl and she is perfectly healthy and growing beautifully. I will be 42 years old at the time of her birth.
Thank you Dr. Levin; for your amazing gift of helping people, like us, to bring our precious miracle babies into this world. You are truly special and we will forever be grateful for your amazing skill. You will be in our hearts forever.
With all our love and appreciation,
Rosemary and Adam Czajkowski
San Angelo, Texas
Update…On May 16, 2015 we were blessed with the birth of our second little blessing. Nadya Alaina Czajkowski was born via C-Section at 9:20 am. She weighed 4 pounds 1 ounce and was 17 ¼ inches long. She was born at 34 weeks due to Intra-Uterine Growth Restriction (IUGR). She is completely healthy and is growing beautifully. We could not be any happier!
