Our story is so similar to many others, but I still feel compelled to share our journey with you. I married right out of college and had two daughters while in my early twenties. After the birth of my second daughter I made a hasty decision to undergo a tubal ligation. In October 2005 I underwent a tubal clipping. Not long after my surgery, I experienced the pangs of regret that I had closed that door. As my daughters grew and I enjoyed life with them, I put the regret out of my mind, fulfilled with my two precious little girls and the joy they brought me.
Then my marriage dissolved. Suddenly in my thirties and a single mom, my tubal ligation was far from my mind. Then I met Jaret. A coworker who became my best friend, then suddenly I found myself completely in love. In love with a man younger than me with no children of his own. A man who expressed his love of kids and fully embraced my daughters as his own. I disclosed from the very start of our relationship that I had underwent a tubal ligation and was unable to give him a child of his own. I watched him grow to love my girls and then go through the process of accepting that he could not have the biological child he had always dreamed of. I watched this man of integrity decide that me and my girls were enough and we would be a family. As our relationship progressed and I knew he loved me just as much as I loved him and I saw the amazing father he became to my daughters and I knew. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I wanted another a child. I wanted to complete our family with another baby. I began searching the internet for options. In January 2011, I found Dr. Levin and began the process involved in planning for my tubal ligation. That same month I shared my decision with Jaret, who was overjoyed that we might be able to have a child of our own.
After reading everything I could find and researching every tubal reversal clinic in the US, I made the decision to schedule my reversal with Dr. Richard Levin in Louisville KY, just a few hours from our home in Ohio. I had to delay a couple of months after I discovered a mass in my leg. In March of 2011 I had surgery to remove a tumor from my left thigh, that thank God was benign. In April 2011 I had my tubal reversal! Dr. Levin told Jaret that it was successful, and in 6 weeks we could begin trying for our baby.
Almost exactly 2 months after my reversal, we were completely shocked and completely overjoyed to discover I was pregnant! On February 9, 2012 Elizabeth "Ellie" Ann Hagner made her debut!
Dr. Levin, Linda, Jessica, and the rest of the staff have been truly wonderful. Our entire experience was a positive one, from our first email with the staff, to my surgery experience, to the care Dr. Levin provided in the early weeks of my pregnancy. My progesterone level was very low, and from Kentucky, Dr. Levin treated me and kept little Ellie safe! We are overjoyed with our growing family and owe a huge debt to Dr. Levin and his staff for helping us realize our dreams of more kids!
Thank you Dr. Levin!
