Dr Levin and staff, From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. As I look at my angel sleeping beside me I know I owe it all to you. You allowed me to complete my family and I am forever thankful to you.
Here is my story to share…I am so excited that I finally get to be the one to share her story..I have prayed for this day for years!
On May 29th, 1994, I gave birth to my son. He was perfect. However, the pregnancy was anything but perfect. I had been in the hospital four times and I was on bed rest for the last few months. Throughout the pregnancy, I lost 30 lbs. I was miserable. I decided to have my tubes tied a month later. You would think at 24 years of age the doctor would have tried to talk me out of it, but he didn’t.
I regretted my decision soon after. My husband did too.
In 2002, we started to look into how we could reverse our decision. We discussed IVF, reversals and even adoption. After months of research, we settled on a reversal. Checking on the Internet, we discovered that the price of the reversal varied from place to place. Dr. Levin had good prices, but I was afraid that, “You get what you pay for….” I called to his office and asked about thirty questions. Dr. Levin emailed me and discussed several issues with me. I sent him my surgery notes and he told me that he didn’t see a problem with going ahead with my surgery.
I travelled 6 hours to KY the day before my surgery. I couldn’t believe that I was going to meet with a doctor and let him operate in the same day. I am usually a very cautious person. I had researched him as much as I possibly could by talking to the group on Yahoo, checking to see if he had any lawsuits, etc. After talking to about five women who had success with him, I decided that he had my entire life in his hands.
He operated on me in the morning and came to see me that afternoon. The hospital was wonderful. His entire staff made me feel welcome too. What I liked more than anything else was the fact I got to sleep in the same bed as my husband that same evening. You literally had a hotel room and privacy. First thing the next morning, he came to visit me and to check on me. I could have stayed longer, but I begged him to let me go back home to my son. I traveled the entire 6 hours and didn’t have any pain at all, just a little discomfort from the gas.
We started trying the next month. For many months, I would cry because we didn’t have any success. To be honest, we tried just about everything from Clomid, to Lupron , to even talking to specialists. Nobody could figure out why I wasn’t getting pregnant.
Finally, last year, I became pregnant. I was so happy. At 8 weeks, I had the nursery painted, picked out names, etc. At 12 weeks, I lost my baby. That was honestly the hardest day of my life. My regular GYN told me that it was a fluke that I got pregnant and I should probably give up due to my age of 39.
After soul searching, we decided to give up. My heart was broken but I decided that I couldn’t live through the pain again. Last July, I started craving onion rings…I told my husband that I felt pregnant. He didn’t believe me. I went and bought a cheap test and saw 2 lines. I called my dr. and he ordered the blood tests and of course it was positive. Quite honestly, I wasn’t happy. I just kept thinking, “I am going to lose this baby too.” I emailed Dr. Levin at 11:30 that night. He called me within 10 minutes. He told me what I should do and he prescribed certain tests and medications for me the next day. My regular dr. didn’t order ANY of those tests.
For the next 6 weeks, Dr. Levin read my results and let me know that things were progressing normally. Remember this is 8 years, yes 8 years, after my TR!!! He still cared about me. I emailed the office and asked how I could submit my insurance information to them for all of his work and she replied, “This is part of his follow-up from the surgery.” I am thinking, “It’s 8 years later!!! Nobody does anything for free…well, nobody but Dr. Levin.”
I truly believe that he kept me pregnant this time. He regulated my medication, eased my fears, and supported me the entire time.
I was admitted to the hospital at 30 weeks since I lost most of my amniotic fluid. I delivered my little girl by c-section at 31 weeks on January 29th, 2011. She weighed 3lbs 8 oz. During the c-section, I had over 10 people in the delivery room. The doctor said that he couldn’t believe that I had had a tubal reversal as Dr. Levin had done the, “best job he has ever seen.” In fact, he asked for his name and location so he could refer patients to him. After 4 weeks in the NICU unit, I brought home a happy 5lb daughter, Jayci Marie. Now my family is complete.
Dr. Levin made this possible. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank him. He sincerely cares about his patients and really wants them to have success. I did it at 40 with diabetes, high blood pressure, and endometriosis. Don’t give up hope. It took us many years, but as you can see, she was worth it!!
You may email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. I would love to answer them for you. He is everything I have said and more.
