My tubal ligation was performed Sept 6, 1998 after the birth of my second son when I was 22. Years later after my divorce from my first husband, I was engaged. Both my (now) husband and I knew we wanted another baby. We did a lot of researching on tubal reversals. I live in St Louis and there are wonderful doctors here, however Dr. Levin offered the out patient service, the price range, but most importantly the experience we were looking for.
From initial contact to surgery and beyond, I cannot say enough as to how wonderful we were cared for. All of our questions were answered, usually before I even asked. My husband and I were blown away at how wonderful the entire process was.
My surgery was completed March 18, 2010. I had a 3.2 and 3.7 length tubes. I remember Dr. Levin coming in and telling me that although he typically likes to see 4 he would not give me any less chance to concieve than someone who had 7 or higher tubes. Both of my tubes were cut and tied very high up. He literally had
to pull skin out of the "fingers" of my ovaries to attach my tubes. We had a 6 week wait time before trying for a baby.
Nine months later late December 2010 I was in the hospital with ulcers. I was on a lot of medication and according to the standard pregnancy test taken at the hospital, I was not pregnant.
Early January I was reading through some of the e-mails in the support group, I saw an e-mail where a lady who was in her mid 40's with only one tube of 2cm had just found out she was pregnant. I was still a couple days from starting my cycle, but I got up and took a test, it was positive! I couldnt believe it!! The next day I called Dr Levin, and he immediately sent me to get blood work done. He put me on progesterone right away, my levels were dangerously low from all the meds I had taken from being in the hospital. Everything went well and I was released to my OB doctor between 14-16 weeks.
I had a very healthy pregnancy, and delivered a beautiful, healthy 8lb baby girl August 30, 2011. I had to have a c-section, but as a true testament to Dr. Levin, my doctor when he delivered my baby was amazed at the surgery that was done on my tubes. He said that the surgery looked absolutely perfect. Had he not known I had a reversal you wouldn't have been able to tell there was a surgery done! I was sooo very proud, and thankful to Dr Levin...for another doctor to say something like that, I thought it a true testament.
I wanted Dr Levin and any other lady that had any question of his ablility to know how wonderful he really is! I am so thankful to him and his whole staff for making the process as a whole, and the surgery such a wonderful, exciting experience. Everything was worth it!
