Dr. Levin and Staff: I am Dorothy Blackburn. I had my tubal reversal April 2, 2008. I had researched Dr. Levin in 1999, just 3 months after I had my third child and had a tubal ligation at the age of 28. I regretted it that soon. I had three children at the time and my husband felt like we were DONE! I never felt that way. Somehow I just did not feel like our family was complete.
I requested information from Dr. Levin on the Tubal Reversal procedure. I studied it over and over. I requested my hospital post-operative notes to check on what type of tubal ligation I had and sent it to Dr. Levin. I made an appointment to go discuss the reversal and to see what my chances were. My husband and I discussed the fee involved in the reversal and talked ourselves out of it because we really didn't think it would work. I missed my appointment. I wanted another child so much.
I followed Dr. Levin's website for 10 years and watched his success rate. I was very impressed. I kept getting miracle baby emails and thought this could be me. We moved to Illinois for a few years and then back to Indiana. I started working again and decided I was going through with it. I really believed I was meant to have one more child and Dr. Levin and his staff could make this happen. My children were 17, 15, and 11 when I had my reversal FINALLY!!
Dr. Levin told us we would need to wait 6 weeks before we could start trying so I could heal. I went home right after my surgery since I lived only 20 minutes away. Once my incision started healing I was worried about my incision and emailed Dr. Levin on a Sunday morning. He called me within 5 minutes to discuss my issues. My worries went away, he reassured me everything was fine.
Well, 6 weeks went by and we started "Baby-makin". We were trying way to hard. Every month I took a pregnancy test and was negative. I was getting myself so discouraged. Finally after 8 months of trying we told ourselves it was probably not going to happen and stopped stressing ourselves out. By March 2009 we were pregnant and couldn't believe it.
I contacted Dr. Levin's office since I didn't have a current OB/GYN, I figured I would be high risk since I was 38 years old, and he scheduled some tests at a local hospital of my choosing to make sure the pregnancy was viable. I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw my little baby. I was so excited. Once I hit the 3 month mark I saw an OB/GYN and they followed me through my pregnancy. Everything went wonderful. There were never any complications with my pregnancy or delivery. It was all so unbelievable.
I had my babies name picked out for many years depending on if it's a boy or girl. After almost 11 years of wanting and waiting, Reese Katherine Blackburn was born on November 20 ,2009. Just ten days before my birthday. What a present!! She weighed 7 lbs and 12 ounces and she was 20 inches long. PERFECT!! We were all so amazed and loved her so much. My daughter, who was 17 years old, watched the delivery as well as my mother who had always been at my births. My husband, who wasn't ever sure he wanted another child, was overwhelmed with love and joy. Reese has been such a blessing. My family is complete and we all love her so much. I believed she was meant to be and wish I hadn't waited so long to convince myself.
Thank you so much to Dr. Levin and his staff. Miracles can be made to happen with caring people like you all!!!
