My name is Lydia, and I am 34 years old. On October 5, 2001 I had a pomeroy tubal ligation after the birth of my fourth child, and the death of my third. I don’t really want to get into why I had it done, because they are not important. After two years, their father decided he no longer wanted to be a part of our lives.
Several years after our divorce, I met my wonder new husband, Bryce. I told him from the beginning that I would not be able to give him children, if anything became of our friendship. He told me that he loved me, regardless of my ability to conceive. I loved him for so many reasons all ready, but that was like icing on a cake!
We decided that we would wait until after I received my Bachelor’s degree that we would look into reversals. That meant about three years after our marriage. Unfortunately, my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and passed away three months after our wedding. My husband, then felt like she hit him over the head and said, “What are you waiting for?!” He had been debating whether or not he was ready to add to our family; he had been a single man until we were married, when he became an instant father to my three surviving children who were 13, 11 and 7. A baby would be a whole new experience for him.
He told me about his feelings on the way home from the hospital the morning of my Mother’s passing, and we decided together that we felt it was time to start researching. After months of looking into many different options, we strongly felt that Dr. Levin was the right choice and so we prayed about it, and our feelings were confirmed.
On July 19, 2010, I met Dr. Levin in person right before my surgery. We had previous conversations on the phone, where he always put me at ease and I was comfortable with my decision of having him perform my surgery. Recently, I was asked why I chose him, and my answer was simple. “I chose him, because of my desired outcome. I wanted a child with my husband. I only wanted the best doctor to perform my surgery.”
Shortly after our allotted time of waiting; on September 26, 2010 I woke my husband up, by telling him, “Put on your glasses, you are going to want to see this!!” To which, he replied, “Your pregnant!!!!”
Olivia Rose Bushman was born on June 5, 2011. She weighed 8 lbs and 3.7 ozs and was 19 inches long. She is so precious to all of us. Her siblings, Michael 15 and a half, Felicia 13, and Charlie 9 and a half; are all very delighted and protective of her. They are all ready requesting a little brother as well! I am sure that her other sister, Rebecca is smiling down on her along with her Oma, my mother. She is such a blessing to all of us, and every day, we are grateful for Dr. Levin and his staff for the part they had in our miracle.
