Hello Dr. Levin, I wanted to let you know how grateful we are for everything you did in helping us accomplish our dream of ever conceiving again. I thought that if I shared my story that this would be encouraging for others to hear that miracles do happen. God bless you!
My name is Kristi Amin and yes my story is pretty much the same as most women here in the reversal group. I like many of the rest of my TR sisters had a tubal ligation (by means of hulka clips in 1998) because I felt like with three kids and a failed marriage, the chances of me meeting the man of my dreams were pretty much slim to none. Well in 2005, I did meet that man and I guess about a year into our relationship we started discussing marriage and our future together. I should also let it be known that I also informed him of my tubal ligation during one of our dates when we first met. (I just wanted to put everything out there!) While discussing our future together, I reiterated to him the fact that I couldn’t have babies anymore but that I had heard of a surgical procedure that could allow me to conceive. Well that procedure was IVF and he suggested that I do some research. Well I did do research and it wasn’t long before I came across another procedure which was the tubal reversal. From one website to the next, I found tons of info on this procedure but still, I was apprehensive about going through with it because this was a big deal, you know and I wanted to make sure that this is what we both wanted. When I came upon Dr. Levin’s page, it provided so much information that I showed it to my then boyfriend. We both decided two things: that if we were going to do this procedure, the reversal would be the better of the two because it gives you the chance of conceiving as often as we desired and besides, IVF was just too expensive and the other thing was we definitely wanted Dr. Levin to do the procedure.
In 2007, my boyfriend came to my job and proposed to me and from that point on, our life together took off. We planned the wedding for April 2008 so of course we had to save for that and the honeymoon. After we came back from our honeymoon, we decided that it was time to start working on extending our family. I had several pounds to lose before even thinking of having the surgery so I started my journey of weight loss. On November 9, 2009 we had the procedure done by Dr. Levin and everyone was so nice to us. It was a pleasure doing business with Dr. Levin’s staff because even though I knew I wasn’t his only patient, they made me feel like that every time I called. They were always so personable! After surgery, Dr. Levin told my husband that he had to spend an additional hour or so because of the wack job that my OBGYN had did while doing the tubal ligation. We were so grateful that Dr. Levin took the time out to work through everything and get me straight. The next day Dr. Levin and Venita (I hope I am spelling her name right!) came in and checked on me and as always, he was very nice. Venita was very hopeful and estimated a 65% chance that we would conceive. At age 35, I expected the percentage to be lower!
Well my birthday was that following February and during my birthday weekend we conceived. Nazah Lynn was born November 9, 2010. She was born exactly one year from the date of the reversal! Dr. Levin’s hands are truly blessed by GOD and when I look at my baby, I’m so thankful for what he did in extending our family. Dr. Levin will always hold a special place in my heart and I will forever be thankful for the blessing that we received. My husband is Kurdish so we decided to give our daughter a Kurdish name which Nazah means "to be spoiled" and truly she is. My husband didn’t have any kids of his own and he is so in love with our baby girl and again, we are grateful that Dr. Levin was able to give us a chance in conceiving again. Thank you so much Dr. Levin!
