Case Facts: Dixie had a laparoscopic tubal fulguration performed on 10/22/98 with burning of an unknown amount of tube. Nine years later, on 1/29/2007, Dr. Levin performed a bilateral microsurgical tubal ligation reversal using a large German operating microscope. Dixie ended up with 6.0 cm of tube on the right and 3.5 cm of tube on the left.

Please enjoy Dixie and Chris's story in Dixie's own words.

On January 29, 2007, I had a tubal ligation reversal surgery performed by Dr. Levin. A year later, on January 28, I learned that I was pregnant. We are VERY happy to share that on October 2, 2008 we gave birth to a healthy baby boy. I had my tubes tied in October of 1997. My husband and I had two sons and felt that our family was complete. Initially, we agreed that we would adopt if we ever decided to have another baby. Nearly nine years later we were ready for another child. However, after tons of research, both on the internet and in our hearts, we decided that we really wanted to have a child naturally of our own.

After speaking with my OB/GYN doctor and doing more research online, we decided on reversal surgery. The next step was to find a surgeon that we trusted to perform the operation. We found a few doctors online specializing in this surgery, but were not familiar with any of them, and we felt somewhat uncomfortable making such a big decision without more facts. At this time, through a family member, I met a registered nurse who was eight months pregnant after having a reversal. She strongly recommended Dr. Levin. My husband and I read Dr. Levin’s website thoroughly and decided to request more information. The more info we collected, the more comfortable we felt. After the telephone consultation with Dr. Levin, our decision had been made. We scheduled the reversal. It was Dr. Levin’s years of experience that convinced us.

We enjoyed our trip to Louisville, Kentucky. We traveled a day earlier than needed to spend a day sight-seeing and enjoying the city. I admit that I woke up nervous the day of the surgery, but the hospital staff and Dr. Levin quickly comforted me and the experience was great. The next morning, Dr. Levin visited our hotel room for a final examination. I was feeling good (although a bit groggy) and was given a good report from the doctor. We flew back home later that day.

We began trying to conceive approximately six or seven weeks after the reversal surgery. By November I was convinced that the surgery had not been successful or that there may be another problem. I quit counting days in my cycle, quit taking my temperature, and quit looking for the ovulations signs. And wouldn’t you know it, within 2 months I was pregnant, precisely a year after the surgery. Nine months later, we gave birth to Alexander who is a wonderful blessing in our lives.

We are very grateful to Dr. Levin. It was his expertise in this field that lead to our positive results.
