When my tubes were tied in the summer of 2000, I had just given birth to my second daughter just a few weeks prior. I had a 6 year old daughter at the time and my "then" husband had a 7 year old daughter from a previous marriage. My "then" husband wanted me to get my tubes tied because he felt that we had enough children and I reluctantly went along with this. I was 26 years old and I had titanium clips put on my tubes, which was the easiest to reverse (which is what the Doctor told me at the time because he didn't feel that I really wanted this, but that my husband wanted it).
A few years later, in 2004 my marriage crumbled and soon we were separated and then divorced. A few years later I reunited with an old friend and we hit it off and began dating, then engaged & married! He had a son from a previous marriage, I had my 2 girls from a previous marriage but we wanted a baby together. I was now 34, time to hurry. So we began looking into tubal reversal. We came across Dr. Levin's site and called for information just a few months after we married. I spoke to Melanie and had my information sent in for Dr. Levin to look over. Shortly after he gave us the green light for the surgery we made our payment and scheduled the first available date that we could find! We even went and traded in our smaller sedan for a mini-van in the hopes of a growing family.
We made the trip to Kentucky from Illinois and I had my surgery on Monday, August 25, 2008. I had nice long tubes, from what Dr. Levin told my husband and he said that the surgery went well. Dr. Levin and his assistant came to see me in the hotel the next day and once again said that everything was fine and that we could begin trying in four weeks! How exciting! We made our trip back home and I waited patiently, okay, not really patiently... for my four weeks to end. When it was finally time to start trying we looked at when would be the best time and we went for it!
These couple of weeks were quite a wait, but then one Friday afternoon I suddenly started feeling symptoms of pregnancy. The next morning I took a home pregnancy test and it was very faintly positive. I waited all day and then took another- darker positive! Of course, I took another the next morning to be sure and it was positive again! On Monday, I called Dr. Levin's office and had the lab request faxed and I went in for my tests.
Sure enough, I was pregnant!!!!
I continued to do my testing as Dr. Levin advised and I also secured an appointment with a local OB/Gyn office. When we were 6 weeks and 6 days along we had an ultrasound that showed a nice sac and fetus in my uterus.
The technician said to me, "congratulations, you have a baby in your belly, right where it's supposed to be!"
She was pointing at an image on the screen and I saw another image and said, "then whats that?"
Sure enough, after doing a further in depth sonogram we found not one but two beating hearts! We were having twins!!!!
It was a long tough pregnancy, multiples are very different than singletons. I was huge, as you can see! I was due on 7-10-09 and I went into labor and gave birth naturally to two beautiful identical twin girls on 6-18-09 (36 weeks 6 days)! Scarlett Theresa was born first at 1:49am, she was 5 pounds 14 ounces and 11 minutes later Olivia Ann was born weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces.
Thank you Dr. Levin!!!
