Immediately following the birth of my third child, I had my tubes tied at the age of 23. I had gone through the loss of my first child (stillborn) and two subsequent tough pregnancies. I knew I was having a c-section so I decided it made sense to have the procedure then. As the dr was performing the ligation, I knew it wasn't what I wanted but I felt that I needed to do it.
When my baby was 9 months old, my husband and I seperated and later divorced. A couple of years later I met a great guy who was wonderful to me and to my kids. We got engaged and were married in February 2002. Before we got married, I had told him I would have a reversal so that we could try to have kids together. It was in the back of my mind and it wasn't until 2004 that it really became a strong desire for me.
We began researching doctors and it was a bit overwhelming at first. There were a couple of doctors in the area who did reversals but I found myself going back to Dr Levin's website over and over. We made the appointment for the consultation and made the four hour drive to Louisville to meet this wonder doc. We took a check "in case" we liked him and wanted to schedule the surgery. After we met with him and discussed the possible outcome, we felt confident and scheduled our surgery. I had the reversal on October 25, 2005. I was very pleased with the Jewish Hospital and their entire staff. I was able to sit up and eat dinner that night and have lunch the next day before we went home.
We had a 6 week wait and were given a 75% chance of a successful pregnancy. We started trying in December and got pregnant in February. That pregnancy ended up in miscarriage. We tried for about 5 more months until my doctor here wanted to do a laparoscopy and make sure everything was "ok" in there. I had previously had endometriosis removed. The dr removed a lot of scar tissue and did what I like to call a "tune up". He told me my tubes were put back together great and that Dr Levin did a good job. The next month I was PREGNANT!
We delivered Jade Faith Witt on June 1, 2007. She weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 7 oz. The dr who delivered her told me that if he had not known that I had undergone a reversal, he wouldn't have been able to tell. He said my tubes looked great and he could barely see where they had been put back together. This was a first look at a reversal for the resident in the surgery room with us. She was amazed.
Here we are 19 months after the birth of our daughter and we are expecting another little miracle. We are 14 weeks pregnant with our second reversal baby.
I want to express my gratitude to Dr Levin for helping to make this dream a reality. I thank God that He led us to Dr Levin and that our surgery was successful. He has truly blessed us and I see it everyday when I look at my children!
