When I married Craig in 1996, I had already had one child, who was 6 yrs old at the time, from my first marriage.
Craig and I started having more children right away. We had a son in 1996, a daughter in 1998, and then another daughter in 2000. By that time we had been influenced by so many factors, like everyone else here, that we had “enough” children. To most people,we had too many.We even had comments on the affordability of having more and that we should get “fixed”. Well, we did decide to have a tubal ligation but it was two months after my daughter was born. We both had mixed feelings about what we had just done. But for the time being it was where God had us at that time in our lives.
In June of 2006 my husband and I were attending a homeschooling conference. We had been homeschooling our children for about 4 years at that time. Anyway,I was in a conference room listening to this woman speak, when I just felt this overwhelming conviction of what I had done by having the tubal ligation. At first I was a little confused,“Was God really telling me this??” or,“Am I having a panic attack?”. I knew that God was speaking to my heart at that very moment.I wasn't able to concentrate any more on what this woman was saying. All I kept thinking about was getting downstairs to where my husband was at, so that I could share this with him. My husband had been feeling the same way for a couple of years at that point. But, he never really pressed the issue with me too much. We had discussions about it and just kept saying that it would cost too much,if there was even a way to do it. We hadn't really looked into the issue any further.
When we came home from the conference we immediately started doing research on tubal reversals. I was a little concerned about my chances of conceiving if I had the surgery. In 2004 I had surgery to remove some cysts on my ovaries. They had to remove my right tube because of damage to it (from the cysts). I was also worried if being 34 yrs old would be a problem . There was a lot of information out there! I carefully looked into each doctor, facility, hospital etc... on their techniques, training, and expertise, as well as their success rates. Well,we had finally narrowed it down to three doctors. Over the next couple of months I kept going over and over those three doctors and I kept coming back to Dr. Levin and feeling that he was going to be the “one” who I will call and try to get this going. My husband also felt very comfortable with choosing Dr. Levin. So, we made the call.....
Everything went smoothly, we sent in my medical report on my tubal ligation, set up a conference call with Dr. Levin to go over the details, made the decision to go ahead with the surgery and then set up a payment plan starting in November 2006. My husband's job offers their employees a Flexible Spending Account, which was able to help us out tremendously. We were able to get the whole amount for year 2006 and then in January 2007 we were able to get the whole amount for that year. Which turned out to be $4,000 total. Our monthly payments that we were making covered the rest and we were able to schedule our surgery for April 23, 2007.
The surgery day came and we drove from Illinois to Kentucky. My husband and three younger children all came.Everything went great! Dr.Levin was very kind and caring, his nurse, the hospital and their staff all were just so gracious! After I came out of surgery most of that day was pretty foggy. But I do remember Dr. Levin and his nurse coming in the next day to check on me. He said that doing my surgery was a great way to start his day because it was the most perfect repair he's had!!! WOW!! That made my day as well.
We went home happy and ecstatic with one perfectly repaired tube!!! We were given a 4 week wait to try and conceive. We were in the process of moving out of state at the time so we put off the “baby dance” a couple months longer. We started trying to conceive in July 2007 and by August 2007 we were pregnant!!!! Only two cycles and we were on our way to having our baby! The baby was due on May 14th 2008 but decided to come 3 weeks early! Oliver Brock Schall Nunnally was born on April 25,2008 weighing 6lbs. 4 oz. and measuring at 19 1/2 in. long. Almost exactly a year from the day we had surgery!!
Oliver has just turned 6 months old and we have just recently found out that we are pregnant again!!!!! Tubal reversal baby #2!!!! We are so thrilled and excited.God has been so gracious to us.
We would like to thank Dr. Levin for all of his hard work and dedication to soooo many women out there. He has made it possible for all of us to bear children once again. Thank you Dr. Levin!
