I had my tubal ligation when I was only 20 years old, about a year after I had my second child, my son Samuel. My daughter, Carlie was 2 years old at the time and I felt blessed to have a son and a daughter. A few years after divorcing my first husband, I met my soul mate in July 2000. We hit it off from the start and knew we were meant for each other. We entered our marriage blessed with a son and daughter for me and two sons and a daughter for him. Stan and I married in a beautiful ceremony along side our children, family and friends on April 20, 2002.
I can remember the first time my husband said "we should have a baby together." I was surprised and excited all at the same time. I did some research and put it on the back burner for a few years. I can remember the night Stan and I were out to dinner and we made the decisions to seriously start looking into having a baby together. We first contacted an infertility doctor in our area, but the doctor tried to persuade us into invitro fertilization. We were adamant we wanted to have a tubal ligation reversal so we decide to expand our search. We found Dr. Levin's website and immediately contacted his office. We had our consult with Dr. Levin on the phone and he was wonderful and answered all of our questions. We advised Dr. Levin that we were unable to find my records from the tubal ligation, since 14 years had already past. Dr. Levin made me feel comfortable with the decision to go ahead and try the procedure and that he would do the best he could to help us with our dream.
We flew to Louisville and I had my surgery on March 21, 2005. I was so nervous. I can remember waking up from surgery and scared to ask if it was a success. Stan was right by my side with the awesome news that the surgery was a success. My tube lengths were 4.5 and 6.0, and Dr. Levin gave us a 75% chance of conceiving. We had to wait 6 weeks before TTC (trying to conceive). Dr. Levin advised us to just enjoy each other and give it a chance. Well, it sure didn't take long. On June 1, 2005, we got our BFP (big fat positive). I can remember the tears of joy. Stan was so excited but wanted to be sure so we had a blood test a day later that confirmed the news. We could not believe we were going to be parents again, a little miracle baby was growing inside me.
On January 26, 2006, our miracle baby, Konner Leville Black was delivered C-section weighing in at 7 pounds 15.5 ounces. I was the talk of the maternity ward and our journey to have our miracle baby. I can remember my OB telling the Anesthesiologist during my C-section that I had a TR and my baby was a little miracle. He went on to ask if I wanted to have another baby because "my tubes were in beautiful condition."
Our family is more than complete and Stan and I cannot express the joy and love we have for our little miracle. We thank God and Dr. Levin for bringing Konner into our lives. He is a momma's boy and his daddy's little all-star and Cowboy fan!!! We can't thank you enough Dr. Levin and Venica!
