Case Facts: On 2/15/2007 Dr. Levin performed a bilateral microsurgical tubal anastomosis (tubal reversal) on Janet without any knowledge of the state of her tubes as her records had already been destroyed. Only her right tube was sufficient to be repaired and ended up being 5 cm in total length..
Please enjoy Janet and Lorenzo's story in Janet's own words . . .
My story of the surgery that changed our lives forever. I was a 40 year old divorced mother of three chilcren. My oldest was 23, my youngest was 17. After 13 years of wanting more kids I met a man who would change my life. He was also a divorced father of a 13 year old son. We were together for 3 years and we both agreed that we wanted more children.
We discussed our options for a couple of months before deciding to visit a fertility clinic. We were not happy with the success rates of IVF for my age (42), it was also very expensive and time consuming and one thing that we did not have was alot of time because of my age. So we decided to ditch that idea and start looking at other options.
I went online and got to work looking for a doctor that would do a tubal reversal surgery for us. It wasn't long before I came across Doctor levin's website. I was surprised to read there was a doctor out there who was willing to give a guarantee if the tubal reversal was not successful, that was it for me! I called them the next day and they scheduled an appointment to have the doctor call us. After a week of anxiously waiting we recieved our phone call. He asked us alot of questions and at the end of the conversation we were very hopeful that our dreams of becoming parents again would soon be a reality.
In spite of my age, and considering that it had been 18 years since I had my tubes tied he gave us alot of hope. I remember asking him if eptopic pregnancies would be an issue and he said NOT IN MY HANDS!!!!! The next thing we had to do was get our money together and transfer it so that we could schedule our appointment for the surgery.
It was 3 months before we would finally meet the man who would change our lives, on valentines day of 2007. We arrived in Louisville, checked into the hotel and tried to relax for awhile. My surgery was the next day and I was scared, but excited. The next day after my surgery Dr. Levin and Venica came to talk to us about our chances and how the surgery went. According to Doctor Levin, it was very successful.
All we would have to do now is go home and start trying. Im sure that I'm not the only one who spent money on pregnancy tests and ovulator predictors but all that did was make me more anxious. Once I stopped all of that I could relax and let things happen, 5 months later I was pregnant.
I can't even begin to tell you how excited we were. So just because you're not in your 20s anymore does'nt matter as long as you have the right doctor for the job. I thank God everyday for my son, he has brought us so much joy, and it probably would'nt have happened without Dr. Levin.
We thank God for you too!!!!!! For any woman who is considering having the surgery, I say go for it. I am living proof that Doctor Levin is the best at what he does. At 42 years old with only one repairable tube I am convinced that this was truly meant to be!
Thank You! You will be forever in our prayers. Janet Valdez
