My story begins in 1990 at the birth of my 3rd child. I decided that my family was complete and a tubal ligation was performed immediately following my c-section. Almost immediately I was upset at my decision, but soon came to terms with the fact that it was done, and its final and I cant change it! In 2000, I found myself widowed and struggling to get my life back on track with my three children.
In 2002, I met the most wonderful man to ever come into my life! We married in 2003 and I wanted so much to have a baby with him, this would be his first! It wasn't long before the reality of my tubal ligation once again hit me in the face.
I overheard someone mention a tubal reversal surgery and our journey to find out how to make that happen began! I found out my insurance would not cover this surgery and it was far to expensive to just pay for! I began searching the internet for information on Tubal Reversals.
I found many surgeons on the net who perform tubal ligations but I narrowed my searched to just two surgeons. Those two were very quickly narrowed to just one! I joined Dr Levin's yahoo group and talked with women who had used his services. Everyone was so thrilled with him!
I emailed Dr Levin and much to my surprise he emailed me back personally! His dedication to each and every woman did show very brightly from that first email on! He told me to get a copy of my Tubal Ligation Surgical report and fax it to him. I finally had hope and I was so excited!
I located my surgical report after a week of searching and faxed it to Dr Levin and scheduled my telephone consult with him. He told me I had the pomeroy method of Tubal Ligation which was reversible and that I had very little tube removed so I was a good candidate!
Our next problem was money, we talked to my husbands parents and they loaned us the money! We wired it to Dr Levin and scheduled my tubal reversal surgery!
September 9th 2004, at the age of 38, I had my tubal reversal surgery. It was a wonderful experience! My husband and I drove to Louisville, KY from Minnesota and checked into the Jewish Inn. The next morning we were shuttled to the Jewish Hospital and awaited my turn for surgery. I was pretty nervous having to wait, but once I met Dr Levin and his assistant Venica I was so relieved! Their caring bedside manner and humor turned my fear into excitement and anticipation!
I came out of surgery with 8cm of tube on each side, I was so happy all I could do was cry! After a short stay in recovery I was shuttled back to the INN for a good nights sleep. The next morning Dr Levin and Venica came to see me and talk to me. Dr Levin said my tubes weren't the prettiest he had seen but they definitely worked and he gave me a 75-80 chance of conceiving and we could start trying as soon as I felt up to it!
We headed home and the journey to have a baby continued!
February 14th 2005, I got a positive pregnancy test! Sadly this ended in a miscarriage. By June 28th I got another positive test. Dr Levin took wonderful care of me, ordering my blood work and following me through the first couple weeks until I had my Ultrasound and we knew the baby was snug in my uterus where she belonged! We had our keeper this time!
March 2nd, 2006 at the age of 39, I delivered a beautiful, healthy, baby girl by c-section! She was 7lb 11oz and 20 3/4 inches long.
We named her Angel, she truly is our miracle baby that we would never have been blessed with if we had not found Dr Levin. His dedication to us and his skilled hands gave us our dream! We became parents to a miracle!
Dr Levin, we will always be grateful to you for giving us back our chance to become parents to this beautiful baby girl named Angel.
This picture is the first time she looked at me, well, I cant even describe the feeling ..........
She has grown so much, we cherish every single minute of every single day!
