Case Facts: Kristina Ballard had her tubal sterilization February 25, 1993. The doctor did a three burn procedure on each tube. On March 22, 2004, at the age of 35, Kristina had Dr. Levin perform a microsurgical tubal anastomosis. This successful surgery left a total of 5.5 cm of tube on the left and 7 cm of tube on the right. She further had a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) performed on March 8, 2005, which found that the tubes were open.

After a very quick and immature decision, I had my tubes tied at the age of 22 with no children. I honestly thought at the time that I was not going to be a mom. I never thought of how I would feel later in life. Bad choice, I know.
In 1997, I met my husband Matthew. He knew that my tubes were tied and we knew that we were not going to have any children. We settled into our lives and our careers and began married life in June 1998. We thought we were complete with each other and breeding our Great Danes. We THOUGHT we were happy. In 2003, I am not sure when or who, but one of us brought up the subject of having children. We even looked into adoption and other options. However, in the end we wanted to have biological children of our own. And the search began.
I found several doctors who performed tubal reversals, but I knew I had had a triple burn cauterization done and I wanted the best. I did not want to be the worst-case scenario that the doctor I choose had ever seen. I needed hope. When I found Dr. Levin's website, I immediately called Matt and told him to check it out. He was as impressed as I was. As I read the testimonials, I never thought I would be writing my own. I drove to Dallas the next day and waited at the hospital for over 2 hours while they found my operation report from my tubal ligation, because I did not want to wait. I faxed it immediately to Dr. Levin and had my phone consultation February 8, 2004. After speaking to him, we knew what we had to do. The following day Matt contacted his corporate office and put into motion the paperwork for a 401K loan to pay for the reversal. Needless to say, we are not patient people. Less than 10 days later, I mailed our payment and had an appointment to go to Kentucky. Everything was happening so quickly.
February 23, 2004 I was in the Jewish Hospital having my reversal. We were treated so well and Dr. Levin was right there to answer all our questions and made us both feel very comfortable. Yet, a little strange seeing that we had never actually met him. Nevertheless, he and Venica both were immediately like family. My surgery went as scheduled and we were back at our hotel that afternoon. The next day Dr. Levin and Venica came by the hotel to check on us and we flew home that afternoon.
Six weeks later. WE CAN BABY DANCE..Over the next 2 years we had 1 ectopic pregnancy and 1 miscarriage and then February 14, 2006 we got another positive. This time I knew it was right. October 24, 2006 I gave birth to Trinity Kalin Ballard. She was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and 19 inches long. AND PERFECT !!!! What a blessing. She is our gift from God and Dr. Levin. Without both of them, she would not be here today. She is 2 weeks old now and I still stare at her in amazement. Words cannot describe how Matt & I feel, but I will always hold a special place in my heart for Dr. Levin and his staff for giving us the ability to have a family.
