Like most of Dr. Levin's patients, I had my tubes tied after having my second child. I was only 22 when I made this choice. I never knew what my future was going to be, and while I was pregnant with my son, I knew I didn't want to have anymore kids with my then husband. We already had a little girl, then found out we were having a little boy. I thought I had what more families wanted. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy in that marriage, and about 2 1/2 years later decided to get divorced.
I was interested in someone, but didn't know where that road was going to take me. I went ahead with my feelings, got up the nerve to talk to this very special man. We began dating, and growing closer together. Him falling in love with my 2 children, and me falling in love with him. We had many dicussions about more children, and I told him right away that my tubes where tied, I wasn't sure if I would ever be able to give him a child of his own. Him being fine with that, decided that we could still be happy together only having the 2 children that we had. We got married about 14 months after we started dating. It was a wonderful day. The day that we all became one.
Then a few years later, I began the feeling of needing and wanting another baby. Sometime the feeling being so strong, that I could cry. My husband would alway tell me that it we could get a loan for the reversal then I could do it, and he would love to have a baby. So, my journey began. I started searching the internet under tubal reversal. A lot of choices can up and one really stuck out. I clicked on Dr. Levin's, read into it a little and found out that there where medical loans available. I printed all the information, took it to my husband, and the applied for the loan. We where approved for almost the whole amount.
I then called Dr. Levin, we dicussed some things, I got everything he need from me, and we were on our way.
We flew from NH to KY, and I was on my way to more happiness. The day of my surgery, I was never more excited. I know, how can you be excited about surgery? Well, I just had a wonderful feeling about the choice that we had made to get this done. But then, during the surgery, Dr. Levin made a discovery that I had a very bad ovary. My left ovary was practically roting away from the inside out. He stop surgery, and went out to discuss this matter with my husband. My husband doing what he thought best, told Dr. Levin to take it out. Now leaving me with only 1 tube, and 1 ovary. My right ovary was great. Not knowing anything until coming out of recovery, Dr. Levin and my husband told me what happened during surgery. Not worried at the time, I said ok, no big deal.
After getting home and having a few periods, I started to think, what if. Did we do this all for nothing? Well we ever be able to have a baby now? I just kept my hope up and kept trying. Only 3 months later, I didn't get my period when I should have. My girlfriend kept telling me to take a test, and not wanting to I finally did. It was about 9:47 pm,Feb 26th, a Wednesday night. I took the test, and it looked like the test was positive, but not really sure I called my girlfriend in and she was looking at it, I started shaking, and she said it is, you are Chris you are. I still not really ready to believe it, I began to cry.
When my husband got home from work, I put the test on the counter, and he didn't even realize what it was. Then we told him he was shocked. He didn't really believe it at first.
Now, we are proud to say that, 364 day after having my reversal, our little mirical was born. On October 26, 2004 @ 7:57 am, Herbert Elsworth Fuller III was born. 8 lbs, 13 oz. 21 3/4" long.
