Hi my name is Leslie Goff, I am 41 years old and as I write this testimonial it is with a happy full heart, all in thanks to Dr. Levin. He is truly an amazing man, he became my friend and was there to help me and provide me advise along my TR journey. As you will read, my quest for a child has been long, stressful and very expensive. But now with my circle almost complete I am here to share my story with you and wish you the best on your TR journey. Good luck, and may God bless you as he has me.
I have 4 daughters (Jennifer 22/Ashley 20/Brittany 17/Courtney 9). After Courtney was born in May 1995 I had my tubes tied, no regrets (at the time). In March 1999 my husband asked if I would consider having another baby, hopefully a son. We scheduled an appointment and met with a well-known Infertility Specialist in Nashville, TN. This doctor convinced us that due to my husbands low sperm count Tubal Reversal (TR) surgery was not an option and talked us into IVF (In-vitro Fertilization). We began all the routine testing to assure we were acceptable candidates for IVF. After an entire year of testing we underwent our first IVF procedure in March 2001, 3 embryos were transferred and it was successful, we were pregnant! However at 6-7 weeks it was determined via ultrasound that the pregnancy was ectopic (in the tube) and it was terminated. We underwent a second IVF procedure 7 months later in October 2001, where 6 embryos were transferred. Again we had another positive pregnancy test, however this time the embryo's had stopped developing and at 10 weeks I had an emergency D & C to clean out what the doctors called "Products of Conception".
Simply stated we were heartbroken and financially strained. We had spent over $40,000 for IVF and all the medications that go along with it. We couldn't afford another IVF procedure and still wanted but did not have our baby. In February 2002 I started looking into tubal reversal surgery as my last option, it should have been my first! That's when by the grace of God I came across Dr. Levin's website, I called and immediately scheduled a phone consultation. I filled out the required paperwork, mailed it off and had my Tubal Ligation Operation Report faxed to him. I was ready for my consultation and as I sat waiting for "my time" my heart raced. I fondly remember him sitting for an hour and listening to my tearful story as I led him down my IVF path, rambling on and on. I was so impressed by Dr. Levin's professionalism, compassion and total understanding of my situation; this busy man took time out of his day to listen to me, a complete stranger. As we finished our conversation I felt at peace, and I felt a connection between he and I. My next step was to find a TR Sister, and make my payment, which was minimal compared to the cost of IVF. Surgery was scheduled for June 10, 2002, and I started counting down the days, it was that easy. The car ride from Nashville, TN to Louisville, KY marked the beginning of a new life.
On June 10, 2002 I had a successful tubal reversal leaving me with 6.5cm of tube on the left and 7.5cm on the right. We tried to get pregnant the first 3 cycles with no success and on the 4th cycle Dr. Levin prescription Clomid. My period started on September 9th and on September 13th I started the Clomid (CD5-9). I ovulated on September 23rd and after our "Baby Dance" that morning got down on my knees, cried and prayed hoping that this time it would work. In my excitement and anticipation I took 9 pregnancy tests over the next 9 days and tested positive on October 3rd (9 DPO). After a positive blood test I started twice weekly blood testing for Quantative HCG and Progesterone at my OBGYN's office to assure both levels were rising appropriately, and they were. On Tuesday, November 12th I had my first ultrasound and everything was right on target, we even got to see and hear the heartbeat, truly God's miracle!
June 12, 2003 one year after my TR surgery we gave birth via c-section to Michael Lee Goff, III. This BIG BOY weighed in at 9 lbs 9 ounces and 21½ inches long. My "Little Man" as I call him is now 9 months old, 23 pounds and 30 inches tall, he has blond hair and blue eyes (like mom). He is crawling, has 4 teeth, pulls himself up to everything and keeps me on the run. This "Little Man" is my miracle TR baby and without Dr. Levin absolutely none of this would have been possible.
Along my TR journey I have met some wonderful ladies all through Dr. Levin's support group. I remain friends with a few of them and sadly have lost touch with a few. I still keep in touch with my TR Sister who lives in California, she and her husband had their first TR Miracle baby in January 2004.
It is now that I can finally close my circle and complete my story but it just wouldn't be right not to mention Dr. Levin. I sit here with tears of joy rolling down my cheeks for the most absolutely precious gift I have ever received, the ability to have had my "Little Man". I thank you - Dr. Levin! I will forever hold a very special place in my heart for you.
