On February 19, 1998 after the birth of my third child I had a tubal ligation. At that time in my life I thought I was finished having children. I was divorced a few years later and regretted not being able to have more children.
In May of 2006 I married a wonderful man. He did not have children of his own but was happy that I had children to love. He loves my children very much but we wanted so much to have a child together.
In 2008 we began discussing our options for having a child. I did some research on-line and we decided the best option for us would be tubal reversal surgery. We looked at many different physicians but after seeing Dr Levin’s expertise and success we decided he would be the best one to do the surgery.
On January 18, 2009 my husband and I flew to Louisville. I had the surgery on the 19th. We were so excited and could hardly wait to begin trying to conceive. We followed Dr Levin’s instructions and waited 6 weeks before starting.
My cycles were irregular so I bought a basal thermometer to chart my temperature so we would have the best chance of knowing when I was ovulating. Every month that went by was a disappointment. I would begin spotting a week before my period so I knew that I was not pregnant. We began to wonder if it was possible at my age to conceive.
In October, I emailed Dr Levin and asked for help. He told me to chart my temperatures in his program and email them to him at the beginning of my next cycle. I did just what he asked and began putting all my temperatures I had been keeping over the past months in his program and waited for my cycle to start. Once again a week before my cycle was due I began spotting, but after 3 days the spotting stopped. I waited a couple of days and still no spotting or period.
Even though my husband wanted me to wait until I was actually late I took a pregnancy test anyway. To our surprise I was indeed pregnant. We were so happy!
I immediately called my OB and made an appointment for my blood work. After my hcg levels were high enough my Dr ordered a vaginal ultrasound. We got our first glimpse of our little miracle.
I turned 40 in May and on June 28, 2010 I gave birth to our little angel, Hanley London Henson. She weighed 7lbs and 4 oz. Thank you Dr Levin for making our dream come true!
