Hi! My name is Leah. My husband Patrick and I would like to share our story with anyone out there considering Dr. Levin for tubal reversal surgery. My story begins like so many others here, so I will just fast forward through having my first two children at a young age, getting divorced, and feeling like a tubal ligation was my best bet.
My husband and I had a history when we ran into each other again in November of 2006. We basically picked up where we left off. After the first date, we were together every day after that. It wasn’t long afterwards that we began to discuss marriage. One evening we were talking about children in general and he turned to me and said, “If this works out the way we say it’s going to, do you want to try?” I was in tears when I told him that I couldn’t have children because I had a tubal ligation. He held me and comforted me and said that there were sure to be ways to try. I asked him if he was willing to adopt and he said he was, but not before trying ourselves first.
I started looking at in vitro information- because I thought this was my only option- and was very discouraged by the outcomes. While researching the information, I came across tubal reversal surgery. The prospect thrilled me. There was a way after all. Every time I got on line to research it, Dr. Levin’s website would come up. I used it to get most of the information I wanted but was discouraged at the local prospects for having the surgery. When I talked to Patrick about it, he said why don’t we just go to Dr. Levin? I hadn’t even considered the possibility! We were in California, after all.
We had our wedding date set for March 17, 2008 (St. Patrick’s Day) and we called Dr. Levin’s office to set up an appointment. We set our reversal date for March 20, three days after the wedding.
From the moment we arrived at the hospital I was impressed with the staff. From Registration to the surgical team, everyone was so friendly- something that is lacking at our local hospitals.
After the surgery, Dr. Levin explained that one tube was tangled and he had almost abandoned that one all together. However, in the end I had 5.0 cm on one side and 7.0 cm on the other. We began trying as soon as the six week waiting period was over. After about six months, I called my local doctor and asked if I could have an HSG. The test revealed that both tubes were open and healthy. Two months later we got what we had been waiting for.
On December 20, 2008 we got a positive pregnancy test. Exactly nine months after the surgery. That is also the same date I found out I was pregnant with my youngest exactly nine years earlier. We immediately called the doctor to get an ultrasound to make sure that the embryo wasn’t implanted in the tube. All was well.
Fast forward nine months to August 28, 2009. We welcomed Willow Raven Blake into the world in the comfort of our own home. She was 8lbs 7oz, 21 ½ in. We were surrounded by loved ones that day, but we could not forget the reason she was here.
Dr. Levin is an instrument of God. We will forever be grateful!
